Other Cyprus garden works

Unless you are planning to live in Cyprus permanently it is important to create a low maintenance garden using the correct plants and the correct materials in order that you have many pleasurable years of gardening with the least amount of effort. This is especially useful for a lot of UK expatriotes who travel to and from the UK regularly and don’t have time and money to spend looking after the gardens. First and foremost it is vital that you chose the correct plants that will give you the colour and effect that you want but will allow you to have the least amount of pruning and maintenance, therefore always chose to use qualified Cyprus garden landscapers or Pafos landscapers. Secondly the type of materials used is vital in order to keep your garden, little, if not, weed free. Naturally the most obvious solution for this would be to include gravel in the garden, however, most people try to avoid gravel in the garden for a few reasons, one is that too much white gravel can look unsightly, secondly it gives a less natural effect than simply good old earth, nevertheless, it can still save you a lot of time and agony if you chose to use not just plain white but a lovely stone-colour, or even a gravel that contains bits of red stone to break up the harshness of the white gravel. There are many different coloured gravels here in Cyprus and any reputable Cyprus Garden Centres will be more than willing to give you good advice on the particular types available. Then there is the idea of disguising the gravel so that certain ornamental effects are able to break up the harshness of the gravel. Obviously, with planting, this will help that, but again for low maintenance reasons a choice of lovely large ornamental rocks can give a wonderful display, break up the colour and the benefit is that they will never need maintenance such as pruning and training. Again there is an option of including lovely different coloured stepping stones in the gravel, available at many builder’s merchants or from registered Paphos landscapers. Stepping stones can, again be useful to break up the colours and, added to that, make it easier to walk through your garden. Also, how about placing some lovely big ornamental terracotta pots to your design, by placing pots in the garden, surrounded by the lovely orange-reds of the ornamental rocks, you will be surprised how this will help you to reduce the amount of plants you will need to use, and, how about a large antique terracotta Pithari, however, try to find one with a date on, they will hold their value a lot longer! So remember, if you are going for a low maintenance garden there is plenty of choice, don’t forget though, if you are thinking of creating a low maintenance garden, it is vital that you still include a good automatic irrigation system and membrane to prevent the weeds.
